University Hosts Bi-annual European Theology Teachers Convention

Was the primary question behind the theme of this year’s European Theology Teachers Convention (ETTC): The Translatable Gospel.
 
Theologians from throughout the world came to the campus of Middle East University (MEU) in Lebanon from March 27 to 31 for the 2013 ETTC. This bi-annual conference is held at campuses within the various European divisions and serves as a valuable opportunity for SDA Theologians to discuss relevant issues within the church and society.

General Conference President Ted Wilson Visits the University
Ted Wilson, President of the General Conference of Seventh-Day-Adventists (SDA) headquartered in Maryland, USA, visited Middle East University (MEU) during his two weeks tour to Europe and the Middle East. President Ted Wilson holds the position of highest authority within the global SDA denomination.

The visit of President Wilson marks a new development for MEU as it is increasingly seeking to attract Lebanese students. The location of the university in Lebanon is drawing attention within the global Adventist community and the significance of MEU is growing within the SDA education network—which comprises 110 universities worldwide—since the University is the only SDA institution of higher education in the Middle East. continue reading



Members of the University Assist California Group With Aid Work
Reaching the needs of the downtrodden and displaced was a central tenet of Jesus’ ministry while he walked on this earth. In the same spirit, a group from Weimar College, CA hosted by Middle East University (MEU), worked through the University Church Women’s Ministries (UCWM) Syrian Refugee Project in order to provide for the needs of Syrian refugees in Beirut.
 
The group of Weimar students and staff, members of the UCWM and students from MEU visited the Armenian Social Center in Bourj-Hammoud, Beirut, on Wednesday, March 13 at 4 p.m. The meeting with the Syrian refugees—many of who were of Armenian heritage—was organized with the help of a local social worker.

University Opens 4YL Community Center to Reach Local Residents
Discovery, creativity and wellness are important values that Middle East University (MEU) holds in high regard. Serving and reaching out to the local community in order to share these values is a core principle behind the existence of the University. These are the reasons why MEU decided it was critical to establish a community center in the midst of the local Sabtieh community.

On Thursday, February 28 at 7 p.m., the University proudly opened the For Your Life (4YL) Community Center at the base of the hill in Sabtieh. The Grand Opening was well attended by members of the local community. Mr. Antoine Kaysar Jbara, the mayor of Jdeidet-Bauchrieh-Sed Municipality, attended as well. continue reading
