Pastor Micheal Goetz, chaplain of Campion Academy in Colorado, United States, spoke for a week of spiritual emphasis from November 7-12 themed “Handpicked”.
The morning meetings focused on key points of Jesus’ life particularly his death, resurrection, and return. The evening meetings focused on a different individual who was “handpicked” and what their life stood for.
His talks focused overall on a Biblical call to be handpicked by looking to Jesus from Hebrews 12:1, 2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
On one morning, students were encouraged to write on a piece of paper something they wanted forgiveness for. Everyone gathered together later to watch the papers burn. The student association provided students and staff with balloons after the meeting on Friday. They wrote something they wanted to get rid of in their lives and then popped the balloons.
