Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with Teaching Diploma (BA + TD)
Elementary Education
Understand how children learn. Learn how to teach.
Children do not all learn in the same way. At MEU, prepare to understand their needs, plan lessons that help them progress, and develop teaching skills through supervised school experience.
What Teaching Really Involves
Teaching is more than knowing the answer.
Imagine explaining an idea and seeing that a child still does not understand. Do you repeat it, use a picture, or try a different activity? Good teaching begins with knowing how to respond.
In Elementary Education at MEU, you will explore how children develop, what they learn in school, and the choices teachers make every day. You will learn to plan lessons, support different learners, and put your preparation into practice through supervised student teaching.
Coming soon — we are working on it.

Your Teaching Foundation
Why do children learn in different ways?
One child understands an idea by hearing it. Another needs to see an example, try an activity, or ask more questions. To teach well, you need to recognize those differences rather than repeat the same explanation.
At MEU, you will study child development and the principles behind learning. You will connect that knowledge with reading and other elementary subjects, exploring how to help children understand each one.
You will also explore inclusive teaching, lesson planning, classroom management, assessment, and digital tools. Together, these help you decide what to teach, how to teach it, and what to try when a child needs more support.
From Knowing to Doing
What does a teacher actually do each day?
A lesson involves more than speaking at the front of a classroom. You decide what children should learn, how to involve them, and how to tell whether your approach is working.
Recognize when a child understands and when another explanation may help.
Set a learning goal and choose activities that support it.
Make reading and other elementary subjects easier to understand.
Adapt teaching for children with different abilities and learning needs.
Build useful classroom routines and respond thoughtfully to challenges.
Look at children's progress and use it to plan what comes next.
Learning Beyond Theory
See what teaching looks like beyond the textbook.
There is a difference between planning a lesson and standing in front of a class. Your studies help you prepare for both.
Student Teaching
Move from learning about teaching to doing it.
During Student Teaching–Elementary, you observe classroom work, participate in school activities, and teach under supervision. This is where the questions you explore in your courses meet the responsibilities of a real classroom.
Teaching Preparation
Learn how to build a lesson before you lead one.
Explore how to set learning goals, choose activities, explain different subjects, guide a classroom, and check progress. These are the decisions you will draw on when you begin teaching.
Your Learning Journey
You do not have to know how to teach on day one.
Your journey begins with questions about how children learn. Step by step, you build the understanding and experience needed to approach teaching with greater confidence.
Curiosity
Ask what helps children understand new ideas.
Perspective
Learn to see a lesson through the child's eyes.
Confidence
Build a clearer picture of what effective teaching requires.
Responsibility
Experience the work of teaching with supervision.
Direction
Think about the kind of educator you want to become.
Your Next Chapter
Your future could begin in an elementary classroom.

The BA in Elementary Education with Teaching Diploma is designed for students pursuing elementary teaching, including homeroom and subject-area approaches. What you learn about children, lessons, and learning can also be useful in related educational settings or further study.
Specific teaching roles, recognition of qualifications, certification, and professional licensing requirements vary by country and employer. Consult the appropriate authorities for your intended place of work.

Questions
Your questions, answered.
Do I need to choose between a BA and a Teaching Diploma?
No. MEU's undergraduate Elementary Education program combines the Bachelor of Arts and Teaching Diploma (BA + TD). There is also a separate Teaching Diploma route for eligible students who have completed or are completing a bachelor's degree. The entry requirements for each pathway are in the official catalog.
Is Elementary Education the same as primary teaching?
The terms are often used for the early years of school, but the exact grades covered can differ between education systems. MEU calls its program Elementary Education; if you hope to teach in a particular country, check that country's requirements.
Will I learn to teach different subjects?
Yes. You will explore homeroom teaching and methods for teaching elementary subjects. The specific subject-method combinations are explained in the official catalog.
Will I get to teach in a school during the program?
Yes. Student Teaching–Elementary includes observation, participation, and teaching under supervision in a school setting. It normally takes place toward the end of your studies, after you complete most of the required courses.
Can I use this qualification to teach in another country?
The degree prepares you for elementary teaching, but teaching authorization is not automatic in every country. Recognition, licensing, and employment rules vary. If you have a destination in mind, check with that country's relevant authority.
