Guidelines for the Public
The Cafeteria is a place to eat, have fellowship, and relax.
Welcome to the cafeteria. To provide healthy, high-quality meals, we have a few rules and regulations. Please respect them to help everyone enjoy their cafeteria experience.
Scheduling Your Meal
To help everyone enjoy their preferred meal, non-dorm residents should reserve meals by 8 am on the same day or the day before. To reserve, fill out our website form at www.meu.edu.lb/food-services/.
Games and Furniture
We invite you to enjoy the furniture and games provided in our cafeteria. Please use them with care and respect so that everyone can have a pleasant experience. By treating these shared spaces kindly, you help us create a welcoming environment for all.
Events and Social Activities
To rent the cafeteria for events or activities, book through the website’s contact form at least 2 weeks in advance. You may request food service or not. We are happy to help plan, but we may need to decline some events due to internal reasons.
Rental of Kitchen Utensils
The kitchen is not a public place, and kitchen utensils are not to be used or borrowed outside the cafeteria. If you need utensils to host an event or social activity outside the cafeteria, we invite you to use our Event Box. You can book it 3 days before your event with a refundable deposit of $50. For more information, please visit our website. The Event box can only be borrowed for MEU-approved or MEU Church board-approved events.
Tableware outside the cafeteria
Students are not allowed to take meals outside of the designated cafeteria eating areas unless arranged in advance with the Business Office. The MEU Cafeteria is an on-site, all-you-can-eat facility that is not equipped to provide take-out meals as a rule. Students may arrange for take-out trays because of class or work conflicts or in case of sickness. A fruit serving may be taken out at any meal. If tableware is found in the dorms without permission, your case will be forwarded to the business office to charge your account with a fine of $10.
Access and Use of the Kitchen
Only kitchen staff and students working in their shift are permitted to enter and use the kitchen. The kitchen cannot be used for any event or social activity preparation except by the kitchen staff.
Cafeteria Use for Church Potlucks
The church is welcome to use the dining hall for church potlucks with permission from the cafeteria management. We kindly ask you to provide your own cleaners, cleaning supplies, and trash bags, and to collect all trash, sweep the floor where necessary, and to clean the tables. Please remove the trash the same day and bring it to the mixed waste bins on the campus road. To contact the cafeteria management, please use the Event Planner form on our website 2 weeks in advance.
Paying System at the Cafeteria
Dorm students need to scan their MEU ID card for every meal; only in exceptional cases will the ID number be accepted instead of the card. Food items additional to the dorm meal plan can be purchased in cash or by charging the MEU account through scanning the ID card.
Day students, faculty and staff, and external visitors have two options to pay: cash or charging their MEU account. Those who wish to charge to their account require an MEU ID card. If no MEU account exists, please contact guillermo.esquivel@meu.edu.lb to create a card and an account.
