Bachelor of Business Administration · Information Systems Concentration
Information Systems
Understand the business. Use technology to make it work better.
Build a strong foundation in business, then specialize in how data, web development, databases, networks, and digital systems can help organizations solve problems and make better decisions.
Technology With a Business Purpose
Technology is useful when it solves the right problem.
Information Systems is not just about computers. It is about understanding how a business works, what information people need, where problems happen, and how technology can help.
As a BBA student, you build an understanding of business — from customers, money and markets to management, strategy and decision-making. Your Information Systems concentration then helps you look at those same business challenges through a technology lens.
Coming soon — we are working on it.

Your Information Systems Foundation
Learn the business before choosing the technology.
Good technology decisions start with understanding what an organization is trying to achieve.
As a BBA student, you develop a broad view of business. You learn how organizations think about customers, money, management, markets, strategy, data, ethics, and the wider business environment.
Your Information Systems concentration adds another question: How can technology help? You explore how businesses use web development and digital systems, organize information in databases, work with data, connect through networks, understand system needs, and plan technology projects.
The goal is not simply to know that technology exists. It is to understand where it fits, what problem it should solve, and how it can support better business decisions and processes.
From Business Problems to Digital Solutions
Learn to see where technology can make a difference.
See how a business works, what it is trying to achieve, and what people need from it.
Look at a problem, process, or decision and identify the information needed to understand it.
Organize and analyze information so it can help people understand what is happening and make better decisions.
Understand how people, information, digital systems, and networks need to work together.

Questions
Questions about Information Systems?
Is Information Systems the same as Management Information Systems (MIS)?
Universities use different names for programs that combine business and technology, including Management Information Systems, MIS, and Information Technology Management. At MEU, the official name is the Information Systems Concentration within the Bachelor of Business Administration.
What is the difference between the BBA Information Systems concentration and the BS in Information Systems at MEU?
The difference is mainly where the academic emphasis begins. The BBA Information Systems concentration starts with a broad Business Administration education and adds Information Systems as your specialization. The BS in Information Systems puts more of the degree into technology, including a stronger foundation in programming, systems development, and security, while still including business knowledge. BBA Information Systems: more business, technology as your specialization. BS Information Systems: more technology, business knowledge included.
Will I actually study technology even though this is a business degree?
Yes. The concentration includes learning in areas such as web development, databases, data analytics, networks, systems analysis, and technology project management. The difference is that you study these areas inside a BBA, so the focus stays connected to business needs and organizational problems.
Is this the same as Computer Science?
No. Computer Science focuses more deeply on computing itself, including software, algorithms, and the technical foundations behind computing systems. BBA Information Systems starts from business and focuses on how information and technology can support organizations, processes, and decisions.
Does the concentration include professional experience?
Yes. The current curriculum includes an approved Information Systems internship. Exact eligibility, approval procedures, and internship requirements are maintained in the Academic Catalog.
What can I do with a BBA concentration in Information Systems?
The concentration can support pathways where business and technology overlap, including business systems, systems analysis, data-related work, digital business, technology projects, information management, and consulting-related environments. The exact role you pursue will depend on your interests, experience, additional skills, and employer requirements.
