Stewardship with Purpose

At Middle East University, environmental stewardship is more than a practice — it’s a reflection of our values and our commitment to a better world. In line with our mission to cultivate responsible global citizens, MEU embraces recycling as an essential part of campus life.

Lebanon faces growing challenges with landfill overflow and waste management. By recycling, we reduce the pressure on landfills, lower the frequency and cost of waste collection, and strengthen our waste stream against future disruptions. Most importantly, we act in harmony with two United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

  • Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production

  • Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals

Our students are key agents in this initiative. They actively engage in maintaining recycling stations and ensuring collection points remain clean, organized, and accessible. Through these small yet impactful actions, they learn the value of service, environmental responsibility, and shared mission.

To support this endeavor, MEU proudly partners with Arcenciel, a leading Lebanese non-profit organization. Every week, Arcenciel collects our recyclable materials and ensures they are processed responsibly. Their broader mission includes social support services, food security programs, sustainable agriculture, medical waste disposal, and a robust national recycling network.

Together, MEU and Arcenciel are building a cleaner, more sustainable Lebanon — one campus at a time.

It’s time to take the decision that will change your world.
