I studied Biology at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska graduating with honors in 2004.  During my university time, I volunteered for one year teaching English in Prague, Czech Republic.  I earned my PhD from the University of Notre Dame in 2009.  My research focus was molecular parasitology, studying vaccine targets for vivax malaria.  I have been teaching biology at the university level since 2011.
Outside of biology, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, traveling, nature, music, and reading.
