I earned my BS in Biology from Union College (Lincoln, Nebraska, USA) and my PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology from the University of Notre Dame (Notre Dame, Indiana, USA). I worked in the pharmaceutical industry in both manufacturing and R&D testing. My PhD work focused on the cellular mechanism of a natural product as a potential therapeutic against prostate cancer. I also completed a post-doc fellowship (Indiana University School of Medicine – South Bend) studying the role of p190B RhoGAP in mammary gland development and breast cancer, using transgenic mice and 3D cell culture models.
My current research interests include the role of RhoGAPs and TGF-beta in breast cancer progression. I also have a collaborative project investigating marker proteins of castration-resistant prostate cancer in patient tumor samples.
I have taught and advised biology students since 2011, at Southwestern Adventist University (Keene, Texas, USA) and now at Middle East University.
