FRESHMAN PROGRAM · SCIENCE TRACK

Science TrackFollow your questions. Build what comes next.

Curious about living things, technology, programming, or data? The Science Track provides a preparatory foundation for students considering Biology, Computer Science, or Information Systems at MEU.

YOUR STARTING POINT

What is the Science Track?

The Science Track is one of the two pathways within MEU’s Freshman Program. It provides a preparatory year with a stronger emphasis on mathematics and natural sciences for students considering science and technology degrees.

It is not a degree in science by itself. It is a structured first step toward an eligible bachelor’s program after the required academic work, equivalency process, and department-specific conditions are completed.

THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE

What will you explore?

The Science Track places greater weight on mathematics and natural sciences while retaining communication, social sciences, and other foundational learning.

01

Mathematics & reasoning

Develop quantitative and logical thinking through mathematics-related study.

02

Natural sciences

Explore scientific ways of asking questions, observing, and understanding the world.

03

Communication & a broader perspective

Build academic communication and learn about people, ideas, and society alongside science.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions you may already be asking

Choosing a track is an important decision. Here are the essentials—and where to check details that can change.

Is the Science Track a science degree?
No. It is part of the Freshman Program, not a Bachelor of Science. Students who meet the progression requirements can then pursue admission to a bachelor’s program.
Who is the Science Track designed for?
Students planning to study Biology, Computer Science, or the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems at MEU. The Business Administration concentration in Information Systems is a different undergraduate route; ask Admissions if you are comparing them.
Will I study only mathematics and science?
No. The program emphasizes mathematics and natural sciences but also includes humanities, communication, social sciences, and electives. Check the current Academic Catalog for the exact course requirements.
Can this track prepare me for medicine?
The Science Track may lead toward MEU’s BS in Biology. Biology offers areas of study that may support future medical-school preparation, but MEU does not present the Freshman Science Track as a medical degree or as a guarantee of medical-school admission.
Do I need to decide between Biology and Computer Science now?
You do not need to have a complete career plan, but you should tell Admissions which degree you are considering. Advisors can help explain how your academic preparation and requirements connect to possible next steps.
Do I need the SAT or Lebanese equivalency?
Freshman admission is subject to secondary-school eligibility, an SAT requirement, and MEHE permission and equivalency as applicable. Requirements and minimum scores differ by track and may change. Verify them through MEU Admissions and the current catalog.
Do Freshman credits count toward my science bachelor’s degree?
No. Freshman credits are used for the preparatory and equivalency process and do not count toward the bachelor’s degree’s required credits under the current MEU policy.
Can I continue my studies at MEU after Science Track?
You may pursue an eligible undergraduate program once you complete Freshman successfully, obtain the necessary Lebanese equivalency, and meet the admission requirements for your intended degree. Admission to the next degree is not automatic.
